What is the difference between this Kickstarter and the retail version?

You will get 3 colorless hireling factions [name change] and the landmarks expansion for free. We try not to do exclusive items, but if something turns out to be prohibitively expensive, we will cut it from the retail release.

Will other Root products be available as add ons?

No. Anything that we have in stock on our website will be available there and not as an add-on. This is mostly because we generally keep Root in stock and we’d hate to tie up your money for so long when you could be playing sooner.

I want to order multiple copies of the game. What should I do?

You can ship up to four copies by adding $50 per extra copy.

Will you be translating the game into other languages?

To help our language partners we will do our usual process of waiting for the second printing of the expansion, so all of the partners can leverage a cheaper price at the factory with us.

How do I know which printing of Root that I have?

You can find it on the back of the box, to the immediate right of the barcode.

Can we get a larger box?

We don’t consider Root done yet, but the end is in sight. To print a box now would create more paper waste down the road. Please wait until we are done and respect our decision by not repeatedly asking.

If I purchase add-ons to my pledge, will the shipping cost change?

Additional shipping per added boxed expansion will be calculated in our pledge manager, Backerkit, once it is set up after the Kickstarter funding period has ended.

Why can’t I get other Root or Leder Games products in this campaign?

A lot of our current offerings on Root and other games are already in stock on our company webstore: https://ledergames.com/collections/full-catalog. By focusing this campaign on new content only, we’re able to provide a way to ship previous content available now and also be able to fulfill our new expansion content without risking a delay due to potential inventory errors or sell out.

How are you addressing the errata from Underworld and Clockwork 1?

As addressed in the Underworld campaign, we will provide additional Vagabond relationship markers for the Underworld faction in the Marauder punchboard. Every copy of Clockwork 2 will come with a fully adjusted Electric Eyrie player board.

In Backerkit - If you are new to “Backerkit”, it is our post-campaign platform where you will confirm your order, add-on any extras, and pay the shipping costs.

Why are you collecting shipping after the campaign?

This allows us to appropriately price shipping in a way (and at a time) that doesn’t expose our small independent studio to unknown risks.

My region is not covered under the "friendly" shipping areas, will I have to pay customs/VAT/additional taxes?

Possibly. We are shipping to the listed regions with duties paid. All other regions are subject to any regional import fees or taxes as they may apply locally.

Unfortunately we cannot. However, we encourage you to contact your local retailer and make plans with them to place a retail order if possible.

No. We do encourage groups or clubs who want to order together to contact your local retailer and encourage them to contact our sales person.

Why aren't there any Stretch Goals?

Leder Games aims to present you with the full product offering on the first day of our campaigns. As a general ethos, we want to give our Kickstarter backers a substantial value without attempting to capitalize on the fear of missing out or gimmicks.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
